A Magical Evening of Light, Culture & Friendship!

Embassy of India in Tunis celebrated India Day & Diwali with an unforgettable event that brought together + 200 guests, marking one of our most vibrant gatherings of the year.

We were truly honored by the presence of our Chief Guest, H. E. Mr. Slim Ghariani, General Director of Asia at the Ministry or Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad.

In a beautiful moment of unity, H. E. Mr. Ambassador Devyani Khobragade, Our Chief Guest H. E. Mr. Slim Ghariani, the President of the Tunisian–Indian Friendship Association (TIFA) Tunisian-Indian Friendship Association Mr. Jamel Boujdaria, and the Honorary Consul of Tunisia Ms. Shabina Soltana @cmi_shabinaa lit the Diwali lamp, officially opening the evening’s celebrations.

To set a serene and mindful tone, the event began with a guided meditation session, inviting guests to pause, breathe, and embrace the spirit of peace and inner light that Diwali represents.

The night came alive with:

A captivating cultural performance by Ms. Maha Gaida

A dazzling Indian saree fashion show showcasing the beauty of India’s textile heritage

An elegant Tunisian fashion show by Washma , celebrating local creativity

But the highlight that stole everyone’s heart…
Ambassador H.E. Dr. Devyani Uttam Khobragade & daughter Ms. Shaira Singh Khobragade surprised the audience by walking the runway in 2 stunning Tunisian outfits inspired by the Indian choli & lehenga, beautifully designed by Rashma — a perfect blend of both cultures on one stage.

It was an evening of connection, creativity, and celebration — honoring the lights of Diwali and the deepening friendship between India and Tunisia.
